

Raymond Lee Tolfre Howard, 65, passed away October 24, 2018 in Beaverton, Oregon. Raymond was born in Warren, Arkansas on January 24, 1953 to Ruby Garner and Mr. Tolfre. He grew up in Portland, Oregon and attended Washington High School and later, Portland State University where he studied Funeral Services. Raymond later became a driver for Trimet Transportation.
Raymond enjoyed playing basketball and chess. He was very competitive and loved teaching others how to play, although he made sure they were always on their toes. He was an amazing caregiver to his siblings. He always made sure they were ready to go in the morning and well taken of. Raymond loved watching “Shoot-um ups” (western moves) when he wasn’t playing basketball. He enjoyed John Wayne movies the most. Raymond was a laid back, down to earth person that enjoyed life to the fullest. He was kind and caring, and every loved Raymond. He stood his ground on how he felt and wasn’t afraid to show it.
Although Raymond was faced with multiple strokes and heart attacks throughout his life, it never stopped him from living to the fullest and enjoying every moment of the life he had. He was a fighter. The fondness that he is remembered is incredible. Raymond had such an amazing impact on the lives and love that surrounded him.
He is survived by his sister, Carylon McDonald, Brothers, William Howard, David Garner, Tomaray Garner and siblings, Nora Thomas, Pat Garner, Danny Garner, Elbert Garner, and Butch Garner. Uncles: Charles, John, Austin, Lester and Sammy Gilmore. Aunts: Helen Gilmore and Step-Sister, Carylon Parks. Nieces: Jeanine, Salinda, Fola, Fiona and Other nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Garner and her husband, Edgar Garner, Grandmother, Stella Allen, and Grandfather, Lester Gilmore, and Cousin Charline Moor.
