

He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend W. E. McMillian, Sr. and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, Florida. He moved to Portland, Oregon where he met and married the late Earnestine Banks, to this union was two sons and one daughter. Later he married Delilah Yeggins Banks and to this union two bonus sons.
Willie received his education in Gadsden County, Florida School System and the Job Corps in Eugene, Oregon. He was a retired Engineer of the State of Oregon Department of Transportation.
Reverend Willie Banks Sr. went home to be with our Lord on September 11, 2024 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, George Banks, Sr.: his beloved mother, Isabell Griffin Banks; his beloved wife, Earnestine Banks; his son, Willie Banks Jr.; his brothers: Izell Banks, George Banks, Jr, and Curtis Banks; and his sisters: Louise Banks Groomes and Bettye Banks Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Delilah Yeggins Banks: his daughter, Yolanda Banks of Tacoma, Washington: his son, Emmett Banks of Japan, Tarrence Yeggins, and Frank Yeggins of Portland, Oregon; his only surviving sister, Ella Mae Banks Bell of Quincy, Florida and his only surviving brother, Dennis (Rosemary) Banks, Sr. of Quincy, Florida; Sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; 17 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, friends, and love ones.
A visitation for Willie will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Zeller Chapel of the Roses, 2107 NE BROADWAY ST, PORTLAND, OR 97232.
