Richard Garrick, 72, passed away at home in the early morning of May 6th while surrounded by family. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Sharon; son, Richard, and family; son, Ryan, and family; 4 grandchildren; and his siblings: David, Diane, Jim, and Debbie.
A graduate of Beaverton HS, class of ’66, Richard joined the US Marine Corps and served from 1966-1970. Semper Fi, Devil Dogs! While on leave visiting his family, he happened to spy a pretty young thing who was friends of his sister, Diane. 21 days later he wed Sharon and began the 50-year journey by her side.
After honorably discharging from the USMC, Richard became a business owner/entrepreneur, and owned/operated several businesses until he decided to travel the world with Sharon by his side. During breaks between cruises or galivanting around the world, Richard would volunteer his time to his church, Meals On Wheels, and Zarephath Kitchen.
An avid Geocacher, amateur winemaker, beer brewer, bread baker, and chef (to stretch the term), are but a few of the hobbies that Richard enjoyed. Always the life of the party, his humor and joie de vivre was known to all that were lucky enough to be near him.
Due to COVID-19 concerns and respect for public health, a service to honor and remember Richard will be at an undetermined later date.
The family will miss him dearly.
