Richard Lee Peterson was born on July 10, 1946 in Valley City, North Dakota to Palmer and Bernice Peterson. He passed away at his brother’s home in Portland, Oregon on December 23, 2014. Rick graduated from Madison High School in Portland, Oregon and spent a large part of his life working as an 18-wheeler trailer and refrigeration mechanic. A big passion for Rick was fishing. He loved spending time aboard his 26' Tollycraft, The Nordic Dream, and he often enjoyed a day on the water fishing with his brother, Marvin. He was a member of Tyee Yacht Club and Tollycrafters Northwest, and formerly served on the board of directors for Tollycrafters Northwest. Rick also enjoyed collecting guns, though his biggest passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He could always be found cheering them on at their baseball, basketball and soccer games. Rick’s family describes him as a good person and fair man. Anyone who asked Rick for anything could count on him to be there for them, often times at his own expense. Rick was a loyal friend. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will be remembered fondly. Rick is survived by his children: Julie (Rich) Riske, Shawn Peterson (Lucy Torres), Teri (Joe) Jerome, and Necole (Leo) Suzuki; his grandchildren: Kyle Riske, Ethan Jerome, Matthew Jerome, Gracyn Feuerstein, Dashiell Feuerstein, Isabelle Suzuki, and Benjamin Suzuki; his mother: Bernice Peterson; brothers: Marvin (Marian) Peterson, Dale (Rosemary) Peterson, and Brent Peterson; sister: Carol (Sonny) McClesky; and 6 nieces and nephews.
