Robert Frans Josef Kyle was born on May 28th, 1955, in Frankfurt, Germany. His father was in the Army and was stationed overseas. He was the 2nd oldest among his three sisters. During his childhood, Robert and his family moved to the U.S. and traveled to many diverse parts of this beautiful country. In high school, Robert was not just inquisitive; he had a natural drive to innovate as he was very drawn to figuring out how things worked and how they were engineered.
Robert attended and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School near the Lloyd Center in Portland, OR in the year 1973. Throughout high school, his passion and interest in carpentry grew. He immersed himself in his studies and maintained his focus to the point where he not only successfully passed the rigorous apprenticeship test for membership in the prestigious Carpentry 583 of Portland, he achieved the highest score on the test in the State of Oregon in 1975.
This was a remarkably great, successful start for Robert as he began his 35 year long career as a commercial and residential Carpenter. During his career life, he worked for Hoffman Construction for 15 years. He worked an additional 20 years in maintenance at The Manors. He quickly became known for his construction excellence, and towards the end of his career, he was a master of trades, performing heavy labor, precision work, completing projects involving refinishing and restoration of wood. Robert’s masterful carpentry work has been featured in popular buildings in the Portland metro area, such as the Portland International Airport and Emanuel Legacy Hospital. His skilled expertise was in high demand for specialized projects such as building a massive helicopter pad.
Robert greatly loved outdoor recreational activities. He enjoyed taking his boat out fishing both in the ocean and the rivers. He was also very fond of camping, taking trips to fun spots throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada with his family.
On Tuesday morning, July 6th, 2021, Robert was called home much too soon and entered his eternal rest with Our Heavenly Father.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sheryl Kyle; his four children; Joshua Kyle (wife, Chela Kyle); Nichole Kyle; Gary Kyle; and Devlin Kyle. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Hannah, Mason and Abram; his sister-in-law Jeannie Tenney (husband, Greg Tenney); and also his three sisters; Evetta Anderson (South Carolina), Christina Wilkerson (husband, James Wilkerson), and Yvonne Kyle.
He is deeply loved and dearly missed by his family and friends.
