Robert Paul Meyer was born on March 24, 1921 in Watertown, South Dakota to Ernest and Johanna Meyer. He served as a medic in the army of occupation in Japan during World War II and after he was discharged, he came home to North Plains and took on farming and logging jobs.
In 1949, he married Betty Davis and their first home was in a converted chicken house in Hillsboro. They moved several times after this, finally settling on their farm in Redland where they have lived since 1961.
Robert began working for Publishers Paper Company in 1961 and retired from there in 1983. Robert also farmed; raising cattle, sheep, pigs as well as hay and grain. In his retirement years, Robert continued to farm and enjoyed collecting and restoring tractors.
