

Robert John Miller, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center. The visitation is Saturday, September 14, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 4700 Howell Prairie Road NE, Silverton. The funeral is Sunday, September 15, at 1:15 pm at the church.
He was born Saturday, May 29, 1926, at Pulaski, Iowa, to Guy and Rose Steffen Miller. His family moved to Gridley, Illinois, when he was 9. Robert repented for his sins, placed his faith in Jesus Christ, and was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church when he was 16.
He served in the U. S. army for two years and was deployed to Saipan at the end of World War II.
Robert married Pearl Pfister October 26, 1947, in Roanoke, Illinois. They moved to Portland in 1948 where they lived together for 65 years, and Robert worked as a carpenter. In January, 2013, they moved from the home they built to Oatfield Estates in Milwaukie.
Robert was put into the ministry in the Apostolic Christian Church in 1953. He preached God’s Word from the church pulpit for 47 years, and continued to bless all those who knew him with his loving and gentle spirit. He was a man who not only knew the scriptures, but lived by them.
Robert is survived by his wife, Pearl, his daughters: Marlise (Gary) Steiner, Kapowsin, WA, Linda (Gary) Schulenberg, Canby, Carol (Perry) Klopfenstein, Gridley, IL, Cynthia (Ronald) Vandenburg, Milwaukie; his sons, Stephen (Julie) and Timothy (Kristina), Portland; a sister, Virginia Cooper; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
