Robert was born in Harrison, Arkansas on September 10, 1941. Robert graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. After receiving his high school diploma he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS St. Paul.
Robert married Donna Lee Kingsbury on March 31, 1967. Robert worked as a commercial truck driver for North Pacific Lumber Co - Jantzen Inc. Helser Brothers Transfer. He had a passion for motorcycles, hunting, archery and bicycling.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Pickering. He is survived by his wife Donna Pickering; Daughters, Michele Howe (Chuck) and Shaw Wood (Scot). Grandchildren, Stephen Howe, Patrick Miller and Katherine Christianson (Luke).
An urn committal with honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Monday, March 7, 2002 at 11:00 AM. The cemetery is located at 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR 97086.
