They were married a year later, and within 3 months Howard went into the Army Airforce as this was during WWII.
Howard was sent to several Army bases in the states for training and Ruth followed him. She found work at different jobs in each town he was stationed. He was eventually sent to India and remained there for the duration of the war.
Their first child, Evelyn, was born while Howard was in India. They later had two other children, Stephen, and Yvonne.
After the war they bought a house in Portland and remained living in the area ever since.
While she worked at various secretarial positions through the years, her lasting impact was her devoted love and care for her family and selfless volunteer service to her church and community. Her beloved husband, Howard, died in 1979 and Ruth continued as a widow serving others and her family.
Ruth loved gardening, especially flower gardening, reading, bird watching, trying new recipes, sewing, and all visits from family.
