Scott Kennedy Basye passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020 after a short illness. Born in Ames, Iowa on June 11, 1964, Scott spent most of his formative years in St. Charles, MO. He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Jeff Hurder, their beloved beagle Bosley, his parents Ben and Joanne Basye of Columbia, MO and three older brothers: George Basye (Cindy) of Yorba Linda, CA, Randy Basye (Debby) of St. Charles, MO and Chuck Basye (Rhonda) of Rocheport, MO. Scott was the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews and will be missed by a loving, extended family and an equally cherished sphere of amazing friends.
Scott graduated from St. Charles West High School where he excelled both in the classroom and on the stage. After earning degrees in psychology and accounting from the University of Missouri/Columbia, Scott continued his life-long quest to learn and grow. His love for everything culinary found him earning a Culinary Arts degree from New York’s Institute of Culinary Education, being certified as a cheese monger and dubbed a wine aficionado. Prior to his passing, Scott was pursuing a degree in Sustainable Food Systems.
Scott’s role as a software sales consultant paled in comparison to his love of cooking/entertaining, reading cookbooks from cover-to-cover and, most certainly, music. He proudly proclaimed his status as Fan Club Member #105 of his lifetime, favorite band, Heart (Thank you, Ann and Nancy, for over 40 years of uncompromised joy that you brought Scott!).
Scott’s hearty guffaw, wit and ability to bring one to their knees in laughter will be sorely missed by countless friends and family.
