LIVE… LOVE… LAUGH… is an expression the reminds us to embrace life’s joys, cherish relationships, and find happiness in every moment. This simple phrase is a testament of who our beloved Shadée was and the life she LIVED.
Shadée Elletnay Kelly affectionately known as “Pooh-Pooh” was born on May 19th, 1993, at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She was born to Paul Anthony Kelly “Duper” and Yameta Shirlee Philipsen. She was named after her father’s favorite singer.
As a child she attended Albina Head Start, Oliver P Lent Elementary, Binnsmead Middle School and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 2011. Later Shadée went on to graduate from Portland Community College with an associate’s degree in applied science, general studies and a Nursing degree which officially made her Shadée Elletnay Kelly, RN.
Shadée was no stranger to working, and throughout her years of employment she worked at Eastmoreland Golf Course, Ross, City of Portland, OHSU and Emanuel Hospital where she worked both jobs simultaneously as a sterilization Processing Tech. Her most recent place of employment was with Providence St. Vincient Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the mother-baby unit.
A devoted mother to her two children Aria Jade Kelly-Washington and August Anthony Kelly-Washington who she LOVED beyond measure. Shadée took pride in raising her children, her unconditional love needed no explanation, and she found joy in the role and responsibility of being a mother.
Shadee’s presence lit up every room, from her infectious LAUGH that always caught your attention to her spontaneity. She brought so much joy to everyone she encountered. She enjoyed spending time with her family, in fact taking trips in the RV with her grandparents was amongst one of her favorites. She was a frequent flyer, catching flights, cruising, attending concerts, cooking and we know she loved her kitchen appliances, not to mention her love for that Stanley cup and her Dutch Bro’s.
The things that brought her joy were going to the beach, enjoying the water, her love for Disney be it Disney Land, Disney World, and even the Disney cruise. Listening to music was her outlet. Growing up Lil Bow Wow was her favorite artist and in her later years she loved her some Eric Bellinger. She was a huge fan of Harry Potter, Degrassi, Halloweentown and 106 and Park. Shadée was always there for others and enjoyed her network of friends who often cared for each other’s children. She embraced life to the fullest with her expression of beauty and love for her make-up to even to naming all her cars.
LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH Shadée, that’s what you did unapologetically and without limits!

Shadée your mother holds tight to the time when you pulled food out of your pocket as an adult, and you clearly explained “nothing has changed” thinking back to the time as a child when you pulled that chicken out of your pocket in the grocery store.
Your father’s heart will forever smile reflecting on the time you guys went fishing and you had your pretend Barbie fishing pole that he put real bait on. You actually caught a fish but threw the pole in water saying “I don’t want no fish on my pole”
The memories you left behind Shadée will forever hold space in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
Shadée LIVED well, LOVED much, and LAUGHED often!
