Sheila grew up in Portland, Oregon, attending Madeleine grade school and St. Mary’s Academy. It was at a St. Mary’s dance that she was introduced to her husband of 66 years, Burke Mims. Four years later, the couple was married and soon after, they moved to England where they welcomed their first child. Four years after that, they returned to Portland where they lived in the Laurelhurst District for close to 45 years and raised a family of four girls and two boys.
Sheila is survived by her six children, Shauna (Mike), Kevin (Julie), Brenda (Jim), Cynthia (Frank), Margery (Andrew) and Steven (Kim); 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Trevor, Mallory, Emily, Cameron (Jamie), Aidan, AJ, Morgan, Marlee, Taylor, Allison and Caden; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Evan. She is also survived by her brothers, Edward and John (Vicki). Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Eileen Cameron, her sister, Kathie and brothers, Alec and Barry, her husband, Burke and son, Bradley Joseph.
A private service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Oregon at: alz.org/oregon.
