Sou was born in China on September 25, 1937. She spent her early life there until she moved to Hong Kong in 1954. She met and married her husband, Wing, on May 12, 1959. They raised their three children Wayne, Lily, and Amy in Hong Kong until later immigrating to the United States in August 1969. Portland, Oregon became the family's new home. Sou worked as a seamstress at Dennis Uniforms until she retired in 1987. The following year, her first grandchild was born. Over the years, Sou was busy "grand" babysitting her eight grandchildren, sewing cute outfits and making everyone their favorite foods. She enjoyed traveling and took two trips back to China to visit her mom, saw the Caribbean, Alaska and Mexico on cruises, and did many road trips to Canada and California with her family. During COVID, Sou improved her culinary skills by watching YouTube. Her family, friends and neighbors were the lucky recipients of her hobby. Her memory will live on through the family recipes that she has passed down to the younger generation.
Her life as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend will forever be remembered with love, compassion, and joy. Sou will be greatly missed by all and forever honored by her family.
