Sue was born on February 1, 1953, in Hong Kong. She was the oldest of three children, to Ken and Lai Kuen. Her father immigrated to the United States in 1959 while the rest of the family remained in Hong Kong. In March of 1968, at the age of 15, Sue, her mother, and brothers immigrated to Seattle, Washington where they were reunited with their father.
Sue graduated from Ingram High School in Seattle, WA before their family moved to Portland, Oregon in the Spring of 1972. Sue attended Portland State University.
After attending Portland State University, she played an integral role in the family restaurant business. For most of her life, she was dedicated to the family restaurant and helped manage it until it closed in 1998. After her father’s passing in the summer of 1998, Sue was the primary caretaker for her mother until her passing in 2006.
Sue enjoyed traveling and loved visiting with family, whether in Seattle or going to the East Coast to visit her brother Bill and his family. She also enjoyed her visits to different parts of the United States and a couple of her favorites were California and New York City!
One of her proudest moments was becoming an aunt to Will, Bill’s son. She loved being an aunt and spent as much time as she could when Will visited Portland or when she went to visit him on the East Coast.
She loved fashion and bright colors. Her outfits were accessorized with matching colorful earrings, necklaces, shoes, and handbags…Always looking her best! Sue will also be remembered for her bright colors and beautiful smile!
Sue is survived by her brothers, Bill (Tammy), Henry (Laura), and her nephew, Will (son of Bill), uncles, aunts, and cousins from the Seattle, WA area.
