Valerie was born in Pasadena, California to Ernest and Louise (Plummer) Pratt on April 26, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving spouse, James Jasperson; and her brother Mark Pratt. She is mourned and missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Marion Pratt and her dearest friend Colleen Dietz, as well as many other friends and family members.
The family moved from California to Oregon in 1956 where they lived on Germantown Road in the Portland West Hills area during their childhood where Valerie considered herself and her brothers to be "free range children." They learned to be independent on the 84 acres they grew up on. Valerie loved the outdoors and life in the Pacific Northwest, learning to ski, windsurf and kayak. Mushroom hunting on Sauvie Island was a favorite activity along with gardening at her home as well as at Mark's or Dave and Marion's. We all greatly appreciated her expertise and help. Valerie dearly loved cats from the time she was a child and that love continued until her passing.
After high school and college, Val then obtained a dental assisting certification and worked for many years as an orthodontic assistant.
Valerie and Jim Jasperson were married on February 21, 1981. They were happily married until his passing in October 1992. Valerie was laid to rest beside Jim at Skyline Memorial Gardens on October 27, 2023.
Should you wish to make a remembrance in Valerie's honor, we would like to suggest Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, Oregon or an organization that benefits nature in some way.
Dave, Marion and Colleen wish to thank Care Partners Hospice for their outstanding care and support of Valerie in her last months.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Jasperson family.
