Valerie Anne Maude Courtenay Johnson passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 17, 2025 at her residence in Wilsonville, Oregon. Her family is deeply saddened by her loss, but rejoicing knowing that she is in the arms of Jesus and her beloved husband, Edward Johnson, who predeceased her on July 12, 2017.
She was born on December 16, 1947 in Bournemouth, England to the late Lawrence Courtenay and Jean Hughes.
Her memory lives on with her daughter, Tracey Buelt, her son, Aaron Johnson, and grandchildren, Dylan Buelt, Brody Buelt, Jordyn Johnson, and Justice Johnson, half-brothers David Finnie, Mark Courtenay, half-sister Mary Courtenay, aunt Barbara Maude Warren and cousin June Ferris.
Valerie loved music and playing the piano. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling and volunteering. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, Dylan and Brody, who she adored and spent countless hours with. They loved her more than anything, and have so many lovely memories that they'll cherish forever.
Although Valerie's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire us and lift us up. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. I know she is in Heaven continuing to worship Jesus and dancing with Ed, her forever dance partner.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
