Virginia was born August 17, 1948 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Walter and Irene (Mauch) Keller, and as a young girl moved to Bozeman, Montana and Woodland, California, eventually settling for good in Portland, where she attended school at St. Peter, St. Agatha, and Brooklyn Public School, before graduating from Marshall High School in 1966.
On February 22, 1969, she married Michael Dean Rust in Beaverton.
Virginia worked as a beautician for over forty years, much of that time as a sole proprietor. Her time away from work was spent on driving trips or just enjoying the company of family. She collected teddy bears and Berenstain Bears-related items. Most of all when in her own company, Virginia loved to read, and you could usually find her with a book of romance or drama. She also enjoyed macramé projects, working in her flower garden, and dry flower arranging. Virginia was always devoted to her family and appreciated life’s humorous moments.
She is survived by her husband Mike, who will miss her every day after their 54 years of marriage.
She is further survived by children Roberta and Mike, and by Roberta’s daughter Desi, Desi’s daughter Elia, and Mike’s children Carly, Jake, and Shannon, as well as by siblings Joe, Bob, Candi, and Dave. Virginia will also be missed by her good friend Trina, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Ellen.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023. Between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, guests will be encouraged to mingle and enjoy refreshments, followed by a memorial service beginning at 1:30 pm. At 3:00 pm, a graveside urn committal service will take place in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
