Walid was born in Homs, Syria on July 16, 1963, to Elian and Amoujin Trad. He immigrated with his family to Portland, Oregon at the age of 3, where his parents worked hard to plant their roots and give their children the opportunity to flourish and grow in this new country. Walid graduated from David Douglas High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Portland State University. Highly skilled, Walid went on to be a consultant for different companies in | Singapore, London, Boston, and New York, finally settling back in Portland, Oregon in 2001 to continue in his field as a Director of Software Engineering.
Walid will be missed for so many qualities that he exuded in his life. He was a selfless man who loved with no bounds. His generosity and kindness were known by all who loved him, and he lived his life to the fullest. The oud, cigars, bread and golf were some of his favorite pleasures. He was a master at all he put his mind to, and worked with meticulous attention to every endeavor he decided to undertake. He loved to learn. Most of all, he loved and cherished family.
Walid will forever be in the hearts and minds of his loving and devoted wife, Kristi and his precious daughter Raina, who brought sheer joy and happiness to his life when God brought her into this world. Walid was very close with all his nephews and nieces. Banter, debate and the delight of being with them was a big part of what was important to him most.
Walid’s father Elian preceded him in passing; knowing Walid is rejoicing in Heaven with Elian gives us great comfort and joy in our sorrow. Walid is survived by his loving mother, Amoujin, and his siblings Nizar, Jumana, and Ranya. Walid’s siblings were so loved by him; they knew and enjoyed a close relationship and bond with one another all the days of their lives. Nothing can take away the great pain and sorrow we feel at the loss of our beautiful Walid, but we are forever grateful for having been a part of, and a witness to, such an exceptional life extraordinarily lived.
