I had good memories of Biff Hadley I met while his brother was dating me during high school.  When his brother moved to San Francisco and died I contacted him. We broke up, Rick and I, when we were freshmen at U of Portland when I was Phyllis Petterson.  He went to work at St. Vincent Hospital so I contacted him for gallon cans to raise our first grapes, Maréchal Foch, from cutting provided by a friend.  We moved them to Yamhill, Oregon as the first two rows of wine grapes as Phyllis Cuddihy.  

My oldest daughter, Caitlin Cuddihy Cushman, has assumed the duties of Demesne Ste. Bride Family Vineyards after the death of her father, Richard Cuddihy March 28, 2014.  The vineyard has a majority of pinot noir grapes now.

His mother was such a warm person who left too early from his life.  I read of his father's passing in my hectic life as a mom in Yamhill, Oregon.  Peace be to all his family and friends who lost a good man!

I had many good memories of my friendship with Bill (Biff) Hadley.  We attended the same HS, Central, and college,UP. But I got to know him at St. Vincent hospital where he worked to be close to his mom who was there as a patient. We traveled in his convertible to SF for spring break and visited after-hours jazz clubs.  I sent a telegram on his wedding day to him and Judith from my military service in Virginia. He took me to dinner at the Benson when I returned from Vietnam.  He was my best man when i married.  I attended his wedding to Elizabeth. We were happy for him at the birth of Nathan, whom he love dearly. Elizabeth died on the day of our 40th anniversary. I mourned with him the loss of his parents and siblings. He became reclusive and we lost contact. I regret not making more of an effort. I miss him and wish him a rest in peace. RIP, Biff.

I met Biff when we were freshmen at Central Catholic High School in 1956. He was a bright guy with a quick wit who often questioned authority. It was a pleasure to see him in good form at his 70th birthday party. A few of us have kept in contact all these years - Biff is the first to leave us. He will be missed.  John Flynn
