Edward John "Mr. G" Grudowski of Parishville, NY died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, February 12, 2019 at the age of 89. Born in Philadelphia, PA November 28, 1929 he was the oldest of three boys. His mother, Helen, was a homemaker and his father John, was a conductor of the Philadelphia Philharmonic. He grew up in Philly with his first language being Polish. After graduating high school from Kanty Preparatory School in Erie, PA, he studied in seminary school for seven years to become a priest. That is, until he fell in love with Dorothy Sparks. They were married in 1957 and he adopted her two children, Debbie and John as his own. He and Dorothy went on to have five children themselves: Francis, Victoria, Christopher, Robert and Barbara. He Graduated from Clarkson University with a Masters in Chemistry and Education and went on to teach high school science and chemistry at Lisbon Central School, retiring in 1991. He had a passion for teaching and loved his students and his job. While being a teacher, he and his family ran Windmere Kennels in Parishville. At the same time they raised Samoyeds and had a dog sled team. He loved the animals. During the summers he would tend a huge garden so we always had fresh vegetables all year round. He had the patience of a saint especially when it came time to teach all these kids to drive. Needless to say he was a devout Catholic and Father. As busy as he was, he always made time for his children. Whether it was being driven around to this event or that, or just going up to the local high school field to fly planes, shoot off rockets and take pictures. He was an Eagle Scout and an active member of the Civil Air Patrol. Edward loved bringing his family to the airport to check out the planes and going to local air shows. After his wife passed in 2017, he lived with his son, Christopher and his family in Potsdam where he was loved and well taken care of. He then moved permanently to live with his daughter, Victoria and her family in Redwood (Alexandria Bay) for the remainder of his life. He was always a joy to be around, cracking jokes and still the teacher until the day he died. He was predeceased by his parents John Edward and Helen Grudowski of Philadelphia, PA, one brother Donald Grudowski of Arizona, and his wife, Dorothy Jane with whom he shared fifty years of his life in Parishville. He is survived by one brother, Rev. Msgr. Robert Grudowski of Philadelphia, PA, Edward's two stepchildren Deborah and John, his five children, Francis (Dolores) of Arkansas, Victoria (Arthur) Frisina of Redwood, NY, Christopher (Paula) of Hannawa Falls, NY, Robert (Dogma) of Wells, ME and Barbara (Craig) Collier of Saranac Lake, NY, his grandchildren: Bryan, Sarah, Spencer, Aubrey and Jacob. Calling hours, a funeral mass and burial will be at a later date in the spring at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made in his honor to your local humane society. He was a kind, loving and patient man who will be dearly missed. Online condolences can be shared @www.garnerfh.com. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service.
