Joyce was predeceased by her husband, John Hough; her brother, Stan Smith; and her parents, Stanley and Bertha(Sharlow) Smith. She is survived by her loving family, including her sons, Randy LaValley (Trish LaPierre), Allan LaValley (Darcia), and Rick LaValley. She also leaves behind her sister, Helen Pierce, and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (John Benson) Hartmans, Dustin (Kiona) LaValley , Taylor (Jordan Roberts) LaValley , Blake (Riley Kranick) LaValley , and Rylan LaValley, along with many great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Andrew's Church in Norwood, NY, on December 23, 2025, at 11:00 am with Rev. Raymond Moreau, celebrant. Following the service, burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Canton, New York.
Joyce was very involved in the Catholic church, and assisted at the polls during election time. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting and crossword puzzles. She was known for having a quick wit. Joyce will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
