

Norma R. Sharlow, age 91, of Potsdam, NY passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 4th at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton, NY. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 11am at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk, NY with Msgr. John Murphy celebrant. Burial will follow at Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Friday the 9th from 4-7pm. On line condolences can be shared @www.garnerfh.com. Norma is survived by her sons Terry (Linda) Sharlow of Pascagoula, MS; Robert (Linda) Sharlow of Wellesley Island, NY; Kevin (Lisa) Sharlow of Carmel, IN; Jeffrey (Sally) Sharlow of Ocean Springs, MS; sisters Barbara Lavigne and Beverly Fefee; brother Chester Hosmer Jr.; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; brother Gordon Hosmer; sister Joan Pike; and brother in laws Bobby Lavigne, Dart Fefee and Albert Pike.
Norma R. Sharlow was born on July 11, 1925 in Norwood, NY to the late Chester Hosmer and Lorretta Cardinal. She was a 1942 graduate of Madrid Central School. She had a marriage to Harold Sharlow that ended in divorce. She worked at Clarkson College of Technology from 1967 until her retirement in 1989. She was the assistant to the Vice President of Finance. She then worked as the office manager at the Presbyterian Church. Followed by working as an assistant to the director of the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.
Norma was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam. She was a remarkable woman, a wonderful combination of warmth, kindness, laughter and love. A smile of sunshine, a heart of pure gold. Norma spent her entire life giving selflessly. No matter the hardship, she never once complained. Her spirit was always bright. Her nature always kind. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend. She touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Her strength unwavering, her accomplishments rich. Norma was divine and will be missed deeply.
