

Funeral services were Wednesday April 23rd at 11:00 AM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with Pastors Winston Brooks and Leonard Howell officiating. Burial followed in the Carter-Golson Family Cemetery.
Mr. Carter was born March 21, 1937 to the late Mack and Chester Carter. With a third grade education, Mr. Carter began working at an early age to help support his family. He was well known for his hard work and for his many job abilities.
He was the owner and operator of the A.G. Carter Construction Company for sixty years.
Mr. Carter was a faithful leader and public servant with over twenty-two years of service with the Autauga County Commission. He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles, trucks and farm equipment. He loved to teach people about farm life with his “Rolling Museum”.
He raced stock cars for many years and was voted the Autauga County / Prattville Annual Farm City Celebration “Man of the Year” and was an honorary member of the Billingsley FFA.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Alton Glennis “Glen” Carter, Jr.; three brothers, Malcolm, Roy and Thomas Ed Carter; three sisters, Nettie Mason Howorth, Hixie Mae Rucker and Aldonia Quarles.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Nelda; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jeff and Ramona Carter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Ripley Cord, Jennifer and Adam Childers; two sisters, Willie Jean Green, Faye Keener; one brother, Otis Carter; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers were James Taylor, Wayne Lassiter, Allen Rawlinson, Ken Roy, Tony Martin, Leo Motley and James Howard Shedd. Honorary Pallbearers were the Autauga County Commission and county employees.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Building Fund, C/O 2279 Hwy 82 West, Prattville, Alabama 36067.
