Ann was born on February 22, 1935 to Gilbert G. Chance, Sr. and Bessie Laurel Godwin Chance in Selma, AL. Ann was the oldest of seven children. She graduated high school from Parrish High School in 1953.
Ann married the love of her life, Milton Pendley, on August 1, 1954. They were happily married for 58 years until he passed away on December 29, 2012. Milton and Ann moved to Prattville in 1965. She ran a small accounting business, Pendley Accounting, and also assisted her son, Al, at Al Pendley’s Impact Center. Ann and Milton loved traveling, even traveling to all the 48 lower states, spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ann and Milton were active members of the Prattville Church of Christ. Whether they were involved in the Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes program, volunteering with the youth group, or simply just being faithful church members, Ann and Milton poured into so many people. Ann was known as “DeeDee” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but she was also DeeDee to more than just her family.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Milton Pendley; a grandson, Cory Pendley; a great-granddaughter, Helen Gray; her parents, Gilbert G. Chance, Sr. and Bessie Godwin Mobley; and five brothers, Gary Chance, Clem Chance, Jimmy Chance, Eddie Chance, and Johnny Chance.
Ann leaves behind her son, Raymond Al Pendley; her daughter, Carol (Mark) Gray; six grandchildren, Brian Gray, Jeremy (Jessica) Pendley, Leslie (Ty) Simmons, Clint Pendley, Eric (Haley) Gray, Brent (Grace) Pendley; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Amanda Bolton; a step-sister, Faye Lynn Arnold; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. All of these she loved deeply.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, December 22 at 11am at the Prattville Church of Christ at 344 E Main Street, Prattville. Visitation will be held from 10-11am.
