Betty was like a sister to me; in fact, I have a sister about her age. I say "about" because we all know (or don't) that Betty's age was not a topic of conversation--not even for her closest friends. That was Betty! She taught me the social rules of living in small-town south so that I wouldn't embarrass myself completely. She shepherded me through my first bridge luncheon, and we co-hosted an Asia party and, later, a luau at my home. She and Pat Partridge helped my daughter and soon throw a 25th anniversary party for me. Oh, I could write for days about all the things Betty did for me. 

I feel certain that she took many young girls under her wing as she traveled far and wide with Bob. She was always so thoughtful of the other person; when introducing she would always repeat the names of the individuals. What a merciful kindness. Kind to the end, she made her departure from this life while I was too far away to get back for the funeral. She knew what an emotional mess I would become for that. Thank God she is no longer in pain and stripped of the dignity she so espoused by cancer. The veil between here and the hereafter seemed very thin the last time Tommy and I dropped in unannounced. We laughed like old times even though she was so sick her nurse wasn't sure she'd be able to see us when we called. As we left, the nurse told us that she'd never heard Betty laugh and talk like that since she'd been caring for her. That was my Betty, my dear friend, trying to make us feel better--Betty, whose going has left a hole in my heart.

What an honor and blessing it was to be a friend of Ms. Betty. My condolences go out to her family. Her kindness and caring for others touched many lives. She surely touched mine!

Betty was one of the most genuine women I have ever known. She lived from the heart and I feel blessed to have called her a friend.

From our first conversation I knew God had blessed me with a friend. What a wonderful greeting she always gave. It was warm, sincere and always accompanied by her wonderful smile. When she said "Hi! How are YOU?", you knew that she meant it. What a true and faithful servant from which I have learned so much. I will miss you!

I am Carole LeMaster, mother of Betty's next-door neightbor, Nikki Butler.  We are very sorry to hear of her death and send our sincere sympathy to all Betty's family and friends for their loss of one so dear.  We thank God that Betty is no longer old and sick and we live in the hope of that great reunion in Heaven someday, which she is enjoying now.

Betty was a true friend in every way. We had so many good times together eating and chatting and enjoying the lanai. She loved her "boys" and grandchildren always speaking highly of all of them and so very proud. We loved Betty and the joy she brought to our hearts.

Betty and her sweet husband Bob were dear friends to the Walthalls. I will miss her sweet spirit and always kind words. She has many friends that will miss her dearly. Nancy & George Walthall

As her neighbor and friend, I have had so many opportunities to spend time with her and they will always be a cherished memory for me. She was such a Godly woman who sincerely cared for others and their well being. There were countless times that she would show her concern or interest for others even when she didn't feel well or had worries of her own. Although I will miss her a great deal, I find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and that she is in the presence of her Lord.

A wonderful sweet lady who will be missed by her friends and family.

Many years we walked our dogs together and chatted.  Betty will be remebered fondly!

I work with Home Helpers and had the pleasure of sitting with Ms. Betty.  Even though I only sat with her once I instantly knew what a precious lady she was.  I know she is in heaven dancing with the angels.  You all should find peace in knowing this.  God bless you.
