

EVANS, Henry Alvin, Sr., 77, of Prattville, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 2:00 PM at the Prattville First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Coleman and the Reverend Dave Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Durden Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born on August 3, 1935 to the late Merrell “Doc” and Mary Gibbons Evans. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served a tour of duty Germany, served with the Prattville Auxiliary Police and was retired from Colonial Baking Company with over thirty years of service. He was an avid fisherman, Master Mason and enjoyed coaching and refereeing football ranging from little league to high school ball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David Michael Evans, Jr. , two sisters; Pete Moore and Sara Millholland; and a son-in-law, John Michael “Mike” Lee. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Miriam Loretta Evans; son and daughter-in-law, Henry A. (Jr.) and Kathy Evans; daughter, Benita Evans-Lee; son, David M. Evans; grandchildren, Joshua Evans, Preston Wallace, Payton Wallace, Evan Walls, Marshall Walls, Alexis Evans, Nolan Evans; a brother and sister-in-law, Merrell Thomas and Janet Evans and mother-in-law, Sally Hill.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Hill, Travis Burnett, Jimmy Holder, Jackson Hill, Jason Hill, Judson Hill, Grant Dennis, Greg Dennis, James Michael Hill, William Sayer and Butch Millholland. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday at the church.
