Joseph Whitten Crawford
27 June, 1952 – 17 January, 2023

Joseph Whitten Crawford, age 70, of Prattville arrived at the gates of Heaven on Tuesday Jan 17. Joe spent his younger years involved in Boy Scouts where he achieved his Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow, where he achieved Status of Vigil Honor. Also, in his younger years he enjoyed being an Umpire for both Dixie Youth and High school baseball. Joe worked in the elevator industry for 40 years, retiring with Kone elevators in 2018. He also proudly served his country for thirty five years in the Alabama Air National Guard retiring as Senior Master Sergeant. He loved riding his Harley locally and across the country and loved his church family at Beacon of Hope Church of God in Montgomery.
He was preceded in death by his parents James R. and Jeanette D. Crawford; his wife’s parents Stanford and Carolyn Champion; sister Paula Armstrong and a nephew Jared Crawford. He is survived by a loving wife of thirty five years Cindy Crawford; daughter Becky Freeland; son Justin Crawford; brother Jim Crawford; grandson Dawson Freeland; granddaughter Bailey Freeland, and a host of other relatives and friends. He will surely be missed by his loving sweet baby girl Scout.
A family and friends visitation will be held Friday night Jan 20 from 5 to 7 pm at Prattville Ridout's Chapel with funeral services being held Saturday at 11am in the Chapel with final Graveside services in Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev Randall Newman and Rev Robert Moses Clark will be officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Bert Barnette, Phillip Cramer, Wayne Cramer, Jeremy Crawford, Steve Hill, Jay Johnson, Randy Lambert, Billy Moses and Kenny Rawlinson.
