Joyce Rachel Smith Hayhurst

SMITH-HAYHURST, Joyce Rachel, 76, of Deatsville, Alabama, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday March 26th at the Open Door Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Pastor Ken Stodola officiating. Burial will follow at the Auburn City Cemetery at 2:30 PM, 1000 Sanford Ave. Auburn, Alabama.

Mrs. Hayhurst was known as a dedicated, loving and caring person. She spent many years in the nursing field and held various positions including surgical nurse and emergency room nurse supervisor at the Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, Florida. She enjoyed traveling and cruising with her husband, who was the love of her life. She was a deeply spiritual woman and a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Don Hayhurst of Deatsville; a stepson, Dean C. Hayhurst of Montgomery; a step daughter, Brooke Elizabeth Smith and her husband Mark of Parkersburg, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Parke Smith, Bryce Smith, Layke Smith, Chad Hayhurst and Ben Hayhurst. Pallbearers will be Rob Rowe, Jay Taylor, Josiah Sandahl, Rick Potter, Brandon Taylor and Matt Swofford.
