On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, Rachel Jennings, 96 years young, and devoted wife, mother of five, grandmother of eleven, great-grandmother of fifteen, and great-great grandmother of one passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was born in Kansas, Alabama on December 12, 1924. She married her husband, Earl, on January 14, 1945, and they moved to Montgomery, Alabama shortly thereafter. She was a devout Christian and served faithfully for many years at Montgomery Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed vacationing in the mountains of East Tennessee and cherished time spent with her family members.
Rachel is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Velma (Jimmy) Cherry, Gloria (Mike) Miller, Carolyn (Floyd) Bingham, Janet Lorenz, and Cindy (Ken) Rysedorph. Her eleven grandchildren Michelle (Jason) Law, Michael (Angela) Miller, Joy (Allen) Underwood, Favor (Jim) Harless, Josh (Sharry) Bingham, Grace (Craig) Cotter, Cainan Steele, Ben, Rachel, and Sam Rysedorph. Fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Rachel will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2PM with Ridout’s Prattville Chapel Funeral Home officiating. The family will receive guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prattville Memory Gardens. Bubba Bingham will officiate with Ken Rysedorph reading the Eulogy and Philip and Wyatt Cornett as song leaders.
