Violet Marie (Curry) Plant, 89, of Prattville, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 7, 2022. She was born in Clovis, New Mexico to the late Claude and Amna Curry. She had four siblings, the late Claudean Urbach, the late Malvin Curry, Ronnie Curry and Lonnie Curry. She was a 1951 graduate of Texico High School where she played shortstop on the baseball team and was also a member of the basketball team. While playing basketball she was given the nick name “Pee Wee. “ Her favorite past time was dancing. In Clovis, she met and married her husband of 54 years, the late John B. Plant Jr. They moved to Alabama where they raised their family.
She leaves behind two daughters, Betty Ann Thomas (Eddie), of Bowling Green, KY and Linda Marie Walls (Micah) of Prattville, Alabama. Her family meant the world to her. She was so proud of her three grandchildren, Brooke Stine (Matt), Elizabeth Myrick (Matthew) and Shane Thomas (Ginny). Her three great grandchildren, Madison Marie Myrick, Henry Brooks Stine and Abby Violet Stine brought her great joy.
She also leaves behind her sister in law, Betty Chapman of Tallassee, Alabama and 16 nieces and nephews scattered across the country. She loved every one of them and tried to keep up with all of them and their children.
She was employed at Walmart for 18 years and made many friends while working there. She will always be remembered for her love of God, love of her family and the kindness she shared with everyone.
There will be a family graveside service, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Oakhill Cemetery in Prattville, Alabama
