OBITUARY

Alan Dionne

27 February, 1949 – 26 May, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Assman's Funeral Chapel

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable man, Alan Dionne, on May 26, 2026, at hospice, after a short and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by those who loved him most. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and leaves behind a legacy defined by strength, kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.

He was predeceased by his parents Aime and Ethel; his brother David and sister-in-law Patti his beloved father-in-law Glenn Alore, with whom he shared a close bond and many cherished memories, and his brother-in-law Russell Hardy.

He is lovingly remembered by the love of his life and partner of 60 years, Shari – lovingly known to so many as “Shari and Al”. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, laughter and cherished memories, especially in their special place in Vernon—a place that brought him peace and joy. They shared a love of travel and, over the years, created many lasting memories together on RV trips. Their love was steady, enduring, and deeply admired by everyone who knew them.

He is also remembered by his mother-in-law Emilia Alore; his siblings Paul (Nellie), Keith (Judy), Gary (Sylvia), and Maureen as well as his brothers-in-law Kirk Alore (Sheryl) and Lyall Alore (Debbie).

A proud and dedicated family man, Alan leaves behind his children Dean (Jennifer) and Dana (Todd), who will forever carry his lessons, values and the countless ways he showed up for them throughout their lives. He was a proud papa to Kaylee (Tyson), Carson (Kristen), Tyler (Delaney) and Connor, each of whom held a special place in his heart. His love only grew with the arrival of his great-grandchildren Kason and Holden, who brought him immeasurable joy. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two more great-grandsons this year, filled with excitement and pride, and was looking forward to the upcoming marriage of his only granddaughter.

Alan was a hard-working man whose strength and determination showed in everything he did. Known by some as “Mr. Clean” for his pride in keeping things just right and was often admired for his great head of hair. He was kind, strong, brave, funny, and yes, wonderfully stubborn. His presence was steady and reassuring, always ready with a helping hand or one of his signature sarcastic remarks. He found true happiness in life’s simple moments: hunting and fishing, time with friends, and above all, being with his family. He was fortunate to enjoy many years of retirement, which gave him the time he cherished most: being with his family and creating especially close bonds with his grandchildren.

Even in the face of illness, Alan showed incredible courage and strength. True to who he was, he continued to bring laughter to those around him until the very end—a testament to his spirit and his deep love for those he held dear.

He was truly our world. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled and he will be indescribably missed by all who knew and loved him. But in true form, he would want us not to dwell in sorrow, but to celebrate his life—his stories, his laughter, and his strength—until we meet again.

There will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Alan’s Life will be held at a later date.

Dad, you gave us everything that mattered. We will do our best to follow in your footsteps, and your love will guide us always. We love you more than words can ever say.
