Leo was born December 29, 1949, in California, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. As a young adult, along with his parents and three siblings, Leo made the journey to BC and began a great northern adventure.
The Chiappe family settled on Nina Greek in the Omineca Valley where they planted roots, sense of community and a home that will be a legacy for generations to come.
Leo later settled in Prince George where he raised his children Tami (Doug), Dayna (Shawn), Ryan, and Jennifer (Aaron). Leo lived with a strong sense of family and took great comfort in the connection with his parents, siblings, children, nieces and nephews and friends that became family. He always maintained time and connection with Nina Creek, encouraging the pride of the land and home in all he loved.
Leo was committed to and skilled in the trades with decades of work as a carpenter, cabinet maker, and in construction where he demonstrated his bright mind, work ethic, and attention to detail.
Leo was predeceased by his beloved parents Tony and Shirley and his brothers Mike and John. He is survived by his sister Mary (Duane), his children, his cherished grandchildren Dylan, Braydon, Darian, Devyn, Dallyn and Draya and his nieces and nephews.
At Leo’s request there will be no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held at Nina Creek on August 15th.
The family shares much gratitude to the compassionate staff at UNHBC, BC Cancer Society and PG Hospice Society for their exceptional care.
