Antonio Dias Barata

Tony will be missed by his wife Donelda; son's James (Emma) and Cory (Tracy); grandkids Danielle (Josh), Jessica, Dayan and Jayden. Tony was blessed with his first great grandson Arthur who was born in February of this year. He will also be missed by his sister Maria (Pat); brother Jorge (Helen); sister-in-law Donna (Ray); brother-in-law Barry (Janice); sister-in-law Gail and many nieces and nephews.

He's predeceased by his parents; sons Derrick and Danny; brother-in-law Peter.

Tony was a dedicated employee, working for B.C.Rail for 39 years. His favorite pastime was fishing, camping and planting a greenhouse full of tomatoes. He also loved traveling, curling and playing cards with family and friends.

A big thanks to Dr. Desrosier, Dr. Chan and all the nurses and staff at the PG Centre for the North Cancer Clinic. You're amazing people and you were very helpful and supportive in our time of need. And lastly, we're exceptionally grateful for Northern Health In home palliative care. Your remarkable team allowed Tony to spend his final days at home with his family and friends.

Prayers will take place on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 at 6 pm at St. Mary's Parish, 1088 Gillett Street. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 18th, 2026 at 1 pm.
