It is with great sadness that I said goodbye to my best friend, my love, my husband Arnold Anderson
Arnold was born in Shellbrook Saskatchewan on April 5,1930. He spent many years farming and ranching with his family near Shellbrook and logging near Chiddick Lake in Northern Saskatchewan.
Arnold joined the Princess Patricia Light Infantry and he was shipped to Europe to begin cleanup and repatriation following World War II. Upon his return to Canada he resigned his position with the Armed Forces and joined the thousands of men looking for work in Western Canada. Day labour was common, unloading and loading rail cars, harvesting grain and vegetables.
Eventually Arnold and his brother Bud ended up working for Alcan in Kitimat BC. Arnold returned to Saskatchewan and married his first wife, Diane. Soon after they moved to Prince Rupert, and worked various jobs until Arnold took a job at the (Skeena Cellulose) Pulp Mill and Diane began working in a government office. Arnold and Diane bought the house on 8th Avenue West and raised their 3 children there, Karen (Cliff), Paul (Laurie) and Lynne (Joe).
Arnold is survived by his loving wife April, her children Tracey (Dave), Charlie (Melanie), grandsons Triston (Morgan) and great-granddaughter Carter.
Arnold is also survived by his grandchildren, Shannon, Skye, Kevin, Graham, Kari, Jeff, Jackie, and Josh, and by his great-grandchildren Kashlyn, Levi, Kayleigh, Sierra and Axl.
Arnold was a wonderful man who had no enemies, he would help anyone and he was often surrounded by children and animals...Arnold was definitely a one-of-a-kind man and I was happy to be his wife.
There will be no formal service at Arnold's request.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
