Boyd Alvin Wickum

Boyd Alvin Wickum passed away peacefully in his sleep at Simon Fraser Lodge in Prince George, BC on January 1, 2025 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Aldene Marie in 2004.

He is survived by five children and one step-child: Robert (Ruth) Wickum, grandchildren: Robert-Lee, Alisa, Nacole; Darldene Ramsey, grandchildren: Marshall, Jennifer, Brittney; Ken (Kathy) Wickum, grandchildren: Krista, Rebecca, Emily; Neil (Joanne) Wickum, grandchildren: Kodi, Laural, Kara; Russel Wickum; step-daughter Georgeana (Greg) Melnychuk, grandchildren: Jeffri, Jamie; as well as numerous great-grand children. Boyd has two surviving sisters: Joyce Straub and Betty (Harvey) Simms.

Boyd was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan to Chester and Alice Wickum on March 17, 1934. Boyd was the fifth child of seven children. Boyd’s family moved to the Prince George area in the early 1940’s and spent time in the Vernon area once he quit driving logging truck. Boyd worked in road construction and logging industries in his long working career. He was an extremely hard working man modelling a strong work ethic impossible to match. He was such a proud family man who taught his children and grandchildren so many skills, often referred to as: “The Boyd Wickum College of Knowledge”. He loved the outdoors and spent lots of time camping and RVing with family and friends. Boyd had a passion for motorbikes and took pride in his Harleys. He was always willing to give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by so many whose lives he has impacted deeply.

A Funeral Service will be held for Boyd on Friday, January 10th at 11:30 a.m. at Assman’s Funeral Home in Prince George followed by a family graveside burial to lay him to rest at the Prince George Cemetery beside his loving wife, Aldene.
