Checker was predeceased by his loving parents Bill and Irma Arp and his brother Jim Arp.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Donna (Todd) Currie and Bev Arp; his brothers Howard (Judy) Arp and Trever (Steph) Arp as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.
For many years, Checker was an integral part of the family business Papason Trucking. It is here that he was blessed to be working along side his brothers; notably driving Truck #09. His dedication and strong work ethic were greatly valued through the generations.
Known as a true social butterfly, Checker never met a stranger. Blessed with the gift of gab, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them smiling. His warm personality, quick wit, and friendly nature made him a joy to be around.
Checker loved bowling and playing bingo in his heyday. He was very passionate about photography and was most definitely an avid Canucks fan! Checker was blessed to have traveled on two memorable vacations - the first was his special love for Scotland enduring it’s rich history and culture, secondly a trip across Canada on VIA Rail.
Above all else, the children in his family brought him the greatest happiness. He cherished every moment spent with them and they in turn adored their fun-loving Uncle Checker.
His laughter, stories and kind heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Forever loved, forever missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Pineview Community Hall – 6470 Bendixon Road, Prince George B.C.
