Born in Ferney, BC Donna spent her childhood in Cranbrook before eventually making her home in Prince George, where she built a life filled with family, friends and many good memories.
For 37 years, Donna and Ron shared their lives. After so many years together, they really were two parts of one person. They built a life that was very much their own, and she was his partner, his best friend and his rock.
Donna was spirited and strong, with a spark that was unmistakably hers. She was straightforward and genuine, with a personality all her own. She loved to bake and loved trying new dishes, especially when there were people around to enjoy them. She also had an incredible way with flowers. Whatever she planted seemed to thrive, filling the yard with colour and helping turn their backyard into the oasis she and Ron loved so much.
Their backyard was also a place for people. There was often a friend or neighbour stopping by, and many good times were spent outside with a cold drink, a fire going and people they enjoyed around them. There was good conversation, plenty of laughs and usually room for one more.
Her son, Trevor and his wife, Kyle were always close by and a steady part of their lives. Trevor was always willing to lend a hand, working alongside Ron on one project or another. When Donna became ill, both he and Kyle were there with help, care and support, something that meant a great deal to them both.
She was a loving mother to Jenny and Trevor, and always carried with her the love and memory of her daughter, Jenny who passed before her.
Thirty-seven years creates a lifetime of memories: the big moments, the ordinary days, the projects, the meals, the flowers, the fires and the people who pulled up a chair along the way. Donna was deeply woven into all of it.
She will be deeply missed by those who loved her and remembered for her strength, her spirit, and the life she shared with Ron.
There will always be an empty chair around the fire.
