It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Edward (Ned/Ed) Mary Furey at his home in Prince George, British Columbia, on July 3, 2026, at the age of 79 years.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Ethel Furey; his first wife, Frances Furey; his beloved son, Jason Furey; his stepson, Mark Abramovic; his brother, Conrad Furey; his infant brothers, William and Stephen; his infant sister, Agnes; and brothers-in-law, Harris Bath and Jack Shea.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 11 years, Linda Furey of Prince George, British Columbia; his son, Steve (Kerri) Furey of Ottawa, Ontario; his daughter, Nancy (James) Furey of Fort McMurray, Alberta; and his stepdaughter, Anna Abramovic of British Columbia.

He will be forever remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Kalem Furey, Jessica (John) Mercer, Kendra Mercer, Zackary Furey, Sarah Tayler-Furey, Rachel Tayler-Furey, Kevin (Maria) Wong, Kirsten (Christian) Wong, and Milan, all of whom he loved dearly, as well as his beloved great-granddaughter, River Mercer.

Ed was a proud family man whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and his deep love of music. Whether playing his harmonica, guitar, or accordion, his music brought joy to those around him. His faith remained an important part of his life. Throughout his working years, he dedicated himself to the mining industry for 49 years, always taking pride in providing for his family.

Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the love, wisdom, laughter, and countless memories he leaves behind. His legacy will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, hospice and palliative care teams whose compassion, kindness, and exceptional care brought comfort and dignity to Ed during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
