Glen Francis Yelland

Glen “Rusty” Francis Yelland was born October 2, 1942 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan to Marjorie and Jack Yelland. Glen moved with his parents and five siblings Erla, Irwin, Barry, Murray and Wendy to Nipawin where he played sports in high school including football and hockey. Later, Glen went on to play for the Nipawin Hawks and Moose Jaw Canucks.

Prior to Glen’s move in 1965 to Prince George, British Columbia with his wife Linda (Wall), Glen played for the Vanderhoof Bears. He later joined the Prince George Mohawks and played with them during Coy Cup wins and old timer hockey later on in retirement.

Glen worked for BC Tel (now Telus) and Business Telecom Equipment until he retired at the age 55 years. On Glen’s retirement he received a merit award from the RCMP for his work done on activating the 9-1-1 system in Northern British Columbia. Glen’s “after retirement” job was with the Northern Health Authority working/fixing the phone and communication systems until he retired at age 75.

Glen went to be with Kay on September 5, 2026. He is survived by his best friend and granddaughter Zoey Banks; his son Murray Yelland (Nina); his daughter Angie Banks (Mike); Kay’s son and daughter-in-law Ron and Julie Fisher and their children Tori and Lauren. Forever in our minds is the smile that Dad had on his face each and every time Miller and Lennie visited him.

Glen’s family will keep his birthday tradition of golfing on his birthday October 2nd.
