Left to mourn his loss are his wife/best friend Elizabeth (Betty) and his children, Gwen Tallman, Rob Sims (Barb), Heather Sims, Patty Lambkin (Brian), Don Sims, Sharon Orich (Al) and Ed Sims (Nicole). Harvey also leaves 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Jane Sims, father Forest James Sims, stepmother Emma Sims, sisters Helen Foster and June Quibel, son-in-law Lloyd Tallman and grandson Michael Sims.
Harvey loved outdoor adventure and spent years in the mountains as a big game guide and a trapper. He moved his family into the north country many times by river boat and bush plane. His children grew up on the trapline, in the guiding camps and then on the North end of Williston Lake at Ingenika Point.
Besides working as a trapper and a guide, Harvey worked in road construction around BC as well as in logging. After spending 14 years operating his store at Ingenika Point for the members of that community, he finished off his career at the age of 75 in the PG area as a logger.
In retirement Harvey learned to play cards with his family and spent many evenings laughing and trying to cheat. He also enjoyed working in his small garden and enjoying the fruits of his labor.
A Memorial Service will be held in Harvey's honor at Assman’s Funeral Chapel (1908 Queensway, Prince George, BC) on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Harvey will be missed by many and loved and remembered for his humor and generosity. May he rest in peace.
