OBITUARY

Irene Margaret Wilson

26 June, 1924 – 11 May, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Assman's Funeral Chapel

It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Irene Margaret Wilson (nee Doupe), peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2024, just a month shy of her hundredth birthday.

Irene was predeceased by her parents Alan and Gladys Doupe, her sister Evelyn and her husband of over seventy years Earl John (Jack) Wilson. She leaves behind her daughters Lynn (Dave) Morgan, Diane (Ried) Beaulieu, and Sharon (Bill Weber) Sheppard. Her grandchildren Aaron Morgan, Keith Morgan, Stacey Lewis, Kim Fagan and Isabella Wilson-Beaulieu will also miss her, as will her great-grandchildren Kaylee, Bailey, Quinn, Claire, Kennedy, Maximilian, Margot and Makenna.

Irene was born June 26, 1924 in London, Ontario and attended school in Hamilton. She obtained her nursing degree in 1946 in Guelph. It was while working as a nurse in Southampton that she met Jack (apparently he won her in a card game) and when he moved to Prince Rupert, BC to work, he sent for her. She arrived in Prince Rupert at noon November 29, 1950 and by two pm they were married.

Irene worked for a time at the Prince Rupert Hospital and at the Large Clinic. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star and was very active in the Stitchery Guild. She enjoyed any kind of stitchery and was quite accomplished. With Jack, she travelled the world many times over.

The family would like to thank the staff at Parkside Complex Care Home in Prince George, where Irene lived, for treating her with such respect and kindness for her last few years.
