John Darrel Switzer

16 November, 1942 – 24 January, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Assman's Funeral Chapel

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our Dad, John Darrel Switzer, on January 24, 2026, at the age of 83.

John was born on November 16, 1942 in Wildwood, Alberta to Arthur and Rose Switzer.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Daphane Switzer, in 2019, as well as his parents and all of his siblings Delores, Daphne, Lillian, Ken, Don, Herb and Sharon.

John is lovingly remembered by his three children Lynn (Arnold), Colleen (Jason) and Steve (Ruth); his four grandchildren,Travis, Koral, Kevin and Steven; his three great-grandchildren Zoe, Keegan, and Colson. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Rita, Marian, Karen and Eva; his brother-in-law Gordie and many other extended family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

We would like to thank Rita, with whom Dad had a special bond. She was and is a support to all of us and remained faithfully by his side.

John leaves behind a lifetime of memories. He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. They were a part of who he was.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care, as well as to the Community Health Workers who supported our Dad over the past few years. He truly looked forward to your daily visits and enjoyed sharing his memories with each of you.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no service.
