Kathy Lou Traeger

On February 13th, 1982, Kathy Lou Traeger was welcomed into this world by Aimee and Stan Traeger in Prince Rupert, BC. 2 years later her brother Ian was born. They moved to Squamish, BC, and Kathy spent a few years of her young childhood surrounded by her family in that area of the province. This is where Kathy fell in love with the mountains and rain.

The family moved to Prince George where she finished elementary school and started high school. During the summer between grade eight and nine she met Neal Whitfield and they would begin dating through high school. After graduation Kathy and Neal welcomed their first child Zackary into this world and 3 years later, they welcomed their second child Alexa. Kathy was a fierce devoted mother of so much love to her children!

Kathy Lou got into hair dressing and became a well-loved hair stylist and mentor to new stylists coming into the trade. She spent a bit of time teaching and helping many others get into and start their careers in that industry. She was very passionate about her job and loved talking to her clients that sat in her chair.

Kathy was very artistic and loved to paint and she always had a love for the stage and had been apart of some high school performances, and this led her to being one of two that started the Bells Of The Underground. She loved performing and encouraging others to get on stage and perform their art form and was able to give many artists their start. She was a business owner and had started a club called the Underground Show Lounge and Bar where she was able to hold shows for burlesque, dance, singers, rappers, comedians, and all kinds of events. On stage Kathy had a magnetizing stage presence! She also was a big supporter of the queer community, taking part with the pride parades.

Kathy Lou was a kind, caring, generous, compassionate soul almost to a fault. She had an infectious energy that was very encompassing. She was funny without trying, but not when she tried to be. Kathy believed the world was a stage to be enjoyed, her act has ended but will never be forgotten. “The Show Must Go On!”
