OBITUARY

Marie Filomene "Alice" Somerville (nee Toutant)

4 August, 1935 – 17 August, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Assman's Funeral Chapel

Alice passed away peacefully, in her sleep, in the early morning hours of August 17, 2025--13 days after her 90th birthday. She passionately loved her family and left behind eight children, Grover Telford (Barbra), Steven Wells (Deanna), Sandra Jackson (John), Kelly Pihl (Bruce), Jason Somerville (Karen), Todd Somerville (Anette), Stacey Somerville (Kevin), Bryon Somerville (Robyn) and her sister Marie Vance. She will be missed by her twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Somerville; her two daughters Barbara Wells Klein and Noella Wells Hunter; her grandson Kyle Case.

Her continuing journey will take her into the loving arms of her first love, Yahweh, and to her soul-mate Ralph Somerville.

Her passing was not unexpected as she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer almost 8 years ago. The strength with which she battled cancer and her love for life is an inspiration to us all. She was our Spiritual Warrior and will be sorely missed.

Alice and her husband Ralph put love into action. Countless lives were and still are being saved thanks to their designing and creating of the Bambi Bucket, the Heli-bucket used for aerial firefighting worldwide. But, probably, Alice’s greater joy came from sharing God’s love through the teaching of Sabbath School and in the sewing of Bags of Love delivered to children going through traumatic situations.

Our hearts will forever hold on to treasured memories of cooking and gardening tips, faith discussions and games of Skip Bo or Crib.

Our hearts are broken, hers is healed.

Love you forever Mom, Grandma, GMA

For He Himself has said, “I shall never leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
