It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Taylor at
the age of 98 years on February 5, 2025. She was born in Hamlin,AB to
Alex and Kay Kusick.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 69 years Keith, and
her children Nikki (Mel), Rick (Deb), Juleigh (Russ), Tim (Deb) and
Terry. She was predeceased by siblings Ronald Kusick, Victor Kusick and
Victoria Taylor. Mary has one surviving sister Elizabeth Shapka,
numerous nieces and nephews, and friends she considered family who will
miss her.
Mary loved being a grandma (Gram or Baba) to her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and her memory will live on in them. Mary was an
amazing friend to so many and she had a fan club whether she was in
Robb,AB, Prince George, BC or Mesa, AZ!
Mary had a variety of activities that brought her joy. She loved to
read, play cards, go to the casino or Bingo, tend her garden, make jam,
jellies or relish, crochet and shop. Another name for Mary was the
laundry queen….white socks were always white!
Over the years Mary had the opportunity to travel to Nashville, Hawaii,
Mexico, Dominican Republic, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Australia and let’s
not forget the Caribbean cruise for their 40th anniversary!
The generosity of Mary was unending. She never forgot to send a
greeting card for whatever event you were experiencing and usually there
was a little something in the card. Mary always had $5 bills handy to
give to the kids..even the ‘big’ kids. If Mary was invited to your home
she always brought something. It could be devilled eggs, cabbage rolls,
perogies, jam, or a crotcheted dishcloth. You were really lucky if you
received one of her apple pies!
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s
Society or charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be
announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Simon Fraser Lodge for
the care Mary received over the last few years.
