Michael passed away peacefully on July 22nd, 2026, at University Hospital of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, BC, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael (pre-deceased by wife Sheila) is lovingly remembered by his four children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Michael and Sheila grew up and married in England. They made the decision to immigrate to Canada where they embraced their new life and raised their family. Michael’s work took him from the coal mines in northern England to some of the most remote mining operations in Canada, including Granduc on the Alaska border, and the most northernly based metal mine in the world, Polaris Mine in Nunavut. He was known for his strong work ethic, intelligence and sense of humour.
Michael was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather who led by example through hard work, kindness and quiet strength. He had a gift for making people smile, and his warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Michael will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
