Otto was born on June 2, 1939 to Margareta and Otto in Duisburg, Germany. After finishing training as an electrician at age 18, Otto set out to see the world.
He travelled to Canada on what was to be his first stop in a world tour, however, it was his only stop.
In 1960, he met Janice, and they wed in 1961, going on to have three children, Jacqualine, Darrin and Jennifer. Otto had many jobs over the years but for many of them he was involved in construction and renovations. He retired at age 81 and half, due to pressure from his loving wife and Covid closures. After retiring he spent his time relaxing with his wife of almost sixty years and watching the Canucks win the occasional game.
Otto was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Margareta, his brother, Ulrich and his daughter, Jacqualine. He is survived by his wife Janice, son Darrin, daughter Jennifer (Dean) and grandchildren Kayla, Zac, Kyle, Kassidy, Keirsten and Kalia.
