Born in Vancouver on August 29, 1950, he passed away peacefully in hospice on September 20, 2026.
Pat lived most of his life in Prince George after moving from the Fraser Valley to Salmon Valley in 1981 with his wife Colleen. He lived a colourful life and was a lifelong farrier, horseman and animal lover who helped doctor and bring innumerable lives into this world, every animal had a friend in Pat.
He was the best of neighbours, always ready to help pull a calf, plow a driveway or bring the harvest in. He was a longtime member of the Salmon Valley Firehall as well as the PG Search and Rescue, and was the consummate volunteer in the community, everything from helping with the Halloween fireworks at the school to helping build the shelters, bleachers and fencing at the gymkhana club.
Along with his exemplary carpentry and construction skills, he was a red seal ironworker, boilermaker and fabricator who worked on major projects all over the province until he retired at 65 from Farr Fabricating/WIC. Not only was he a sports fan, football especially, he used to rodeo, exceeding in the absolute insanity that is wild cow milking and the wild horse race. He played many sports (boxing, rugby) and coached both his children in basketball and soccer, coaching his son to many provincial tournaments up to U17.
Pat’s family and his animals were his passion, and doing a job right was his mantra.
He will be most missed by his wife Colleen and children Sean and Lianne.
To all the fortunate people who met Pat, you are invited to his Irish style wake in the afternoon of October 11 at his home to share stories and celebrate his incredible life. If you are unable to attend, you can contact Lianne to send a video or audio message to be played at the celebration.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Prince George Rotary Hospice House, who gave Pat so much comfort in his final days.
