Born in Melita, Manitoba, Sharon was the second of six children born to Jack and Joan Harmon. She began her teaching career in Manitoba at the age of 18 and moved to British Columbia in her early twenties. In 1973, she began teaching in Prince George, where she met Robert (Bob) Haight. They married in 1974 and shared nearly 52 years together.
Sharon continued teaching elementary school in McLeod Lake and then Bear Lake while raising their two children, Randy and Chrissie. She retired from teaching in 2002 to spend more time with her grandchildren.
Sharon will be remembered fondly. She had a wonderful way of making things special, particularly for her grandchildren, with her endless crafty ideas, creativity and willingness to share her time. Above all, Sharon loved her family and was happiest when she was surrounded by them.
She is survived by her husband Bob; children Randy (Bev) Haight and Chrissie (Scott) Finnie; sister Bonnie Yeomans; grandchildren Shylah, Braedy, Ava, Emma and Jack; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Joan; her four brothers Randy, John, Glen and Jeff.
A Service to Celebrate Sharon’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to Prince George Rotary Hospice.
