Sheila, born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully while in hospital in Mackenzie, British Columbia. Sheila was a beloved wife, mother, and community member whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of many.
Sheila's journey began in Nova Scotia, but it was in Calgary, Alberta, where she met the love of her life, Tom, through her brother, Richard Dauphinee. Both Tom and Richard (“Dick”) were serving in the Canadian Armed Forces when Tom and Sheila were introduced. Their love story blossomed, leading them to embark on a beautiful journey together.
In 1974, Sheila and Tom relocated to Mackenzie, British Columbia, after a short stint in Fort McMurray, Alberta, where they laid down roots and built a life filled with love and laughter. In 1976, they established TR Electric, a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to their community.
Sheila was not only a dedicated wife and mother but also an active member of the community. Over the years, she served on several committees and volunteered in various positions, including as a firehall dispatcher, a member of the District of Mackenzie town councils, and a valued member of the Mackenzie Rotary Club. Her selflessness and commitment to service left an indelible mark on the community she loved.
Beyond her community involvement, Sheila was a vibrant and passionate individual. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was tending to her garden, losing herself in the pages of a good book, or indulging in her hobbies of puzzles, painting, and crafts in her beloved hobby room. Sheila also had a penchant for old black and white movies and enjoyed spending quality time with friends and loved ones, often accompanied by a "cocktail (or two)" on the back deck.
Predeceased by her husband Tom, brother Richard, and parents Dorothy and Harold Dauphinee, Sheila's legacy lives on in the hearts of her loving sons, Nolan and Douglas, her daughter-in-law Dixie, grandchildren Alyssa, Ethan, and Kacey, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for always meaning to be self-reliant and not an encumbrance to others, her kindness, unwavering strength, and “spicy” boldness.
Sheila's memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
